MG TC Restoration
As Martyn Watkins notes, "The enormous success of British Sports cars in the vital export market of the USA and Canada during the 1950's was built, to a very great extent, on the favourable impression made there by the MG TC of the immediate post-war era. Despite its very conservative appearance-or possibly because of it, at a time when the grossness of American cars became more and more hair-raising-and fairly modest performance, the TC was compact, tough and handled better than almost anything". The TC first appeared in 1945, and continued in production until December of 1949.
This 1947 MG TC is owned by James Sebert of Sebert Motors. It was purchased as an abandoned car on the Scarborough bluffs, and underwent a complete restoration. The entire car was taken apart and all mechanical parts were rebuilt using original components. New seating was custom made from Connolly leather, and new wood parts were also made for the car. All original hardware was restored and reused. Original style dunlop tires were located and purchased to ensure the accuracy of the vehicle. All parts on this car are correct to original specifications. This picture was taken at a photo session for the CD cover of Rob McConnell's "Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass play the Jazz Classics" at the Peterborough Liftlocks.
