AC Ace Restoration
This rare AC Ace is one of only a few hundred ever produced. The AC Ace is the car that Carol Shelby used as an inspiration to create the Cobra. This 1959 AC Ace has an all aluminium body and was fabricated in Thames Ditton, England. It has a 6 cylinder AC engine; a very rare engine made by the AC company from 1925-1961.
The AC Ace was in production from 1955-61.
This car underwent a complete restoration under our care. The body was repaired by an English panel beater. It was purchased out of St. Louis with an improper engine, so a proper one was sourced. We have built many AC engines of different vintages from the 30's to the 60's, including rebuilding both the engine and transmission
for this car. The transmission is a type of moss gearbox as similar to the one in the Jaguar of that period. This car competed in the Colorado 1000 mile Road Rally Tour in the 1990's after the restoration was complete.
